Community Engagement

A NEW APPROACH FOR KANATA NORTH

My thanks to Kanata North resident and talent, Greg Pilsworth, for the video partnership

I am proud to unveil my first official campaign commitment on an issue I am hearing about at the doors this month – how we need more community engagement and spirit in our Kanata North.    I believe that an important tool toward connecting our neighbourhoods is the Councillor’s monthly Town Hall.

I will host the Town Hall in different locations across our community on a rotational basis and build an agenda that reflects the local nature of the host neighbourhood. I want to see better attendance at Town Halls and for them to have a reputation as not simply forums for raising issues, but a proactive venue for neighbours to participate and learn about progress in our community and the exciting activities and events we have in our Kanata North.

I will ensure Town Halls are held twice a year in each neighbourhood of Kanata Lakes, Arcadia, Beaverbrook, Briarbrook, Village Green and Morgan’s Grant. They will be held in community facilities and I am also committed to hosting them in small businesses to showcase their contribution to our community.

Finally, I will establish the Council of Kanata North Community Association Presidents. This body will meet quarterly to share information, insight and best practices on engagement approaches and support for each neighbourhood on critical issues in the Kanata North community.

I welcome your feedback on this top #TeamGourlay priority !
